The Kings shook off the big hits -- a couple that led to game misconducts -- and continued a can't-stop-us roll that started with a playoff push the last month of the regular season.

The Kings' dormant power play stirred to life, as did forward Jeff Carter, and the Phoenix Coyotes picked the second game of the Western Conference finals to look like they had spent too much time in the midday sun.

• AP: Dwight King nets 2 to lead Kings past Coyotes in Game 1

Los Angeles gave up a goal from the center line, another tying goal on a miscommunication.
The way the Kings dominated the rest of the game, not to mention how they've played on the road in the playoffs, those two slipups certainly weren't going to derail their bid to take home-ice advantage from the Phoenix Coyotes.

• LA Times: Kings give Coyotes a winning view of their road show

The Kings captain had a first-period assist and then scored the game-winning goal 2 minutes and 11 seconds into the third period in a 4-2 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes on Sunday at Jobing.com Arena in the Western Conference final opener.. It was the Kings' sixth road victory during these Stanley Cup playoffs and eighth in a row dating to last postseason.

• LA Times: Brown keeps Los Angeles Kings sizzling in 4-2 win over Coyotes

The Coyotes did not have a shot on goal until nearly seven minutes into the game, and the first one was remarkably unthreatening. That, and a week off between games, may have cut into Quick's usual alertness, and a highlight gaffe was born a few minutes later.

Jose Galvez's "We Are The Kings"

Ever since the Kings have advanced to the Western Conference Final, YouTube has become packed full of Kings-related pump-up videos. Hockey fans are, without a doubt, some of the most creative, resourceful and talented bunch of sports fans.

On Thursday, I came across a video by Kings' fan Jose Galvez after Yahoo's Puck Daddy had posted it. This was a different kind of highlight reel. Sure, it was packed full of highlights. The thing that made this video different was the poster actually wrote the music. And it was a pretty good song (which could be yours if you PayPal a buck to Jose at josegalvezmusic@gmail.com).

Inspired by this musician's gumption, I fired an email to Jose and asked a bunch of questions. Jose was nice enough to respond:

10 Minute Misconduct with Candlebox

Ever since Staples Center started playing the song "Believe In It" by Candlebox, the team has been on a tear. It's gotta be the band, right?

Turns out guitarists Adam Kury and Sean Hennesy are huge Kings fans, so I reached out and got them to talk about, what else, the Kings and their tremendous season. Adam and Sean talk about a variety of things, like whether they are on Team Blame Marty for the 1993 Finals loss, which current player's jersey they would wear and how do they follow the team while on tour. (Adam is pretty hardcore about his fandom.)

Don't forget, you can download "Believe In It" as well as their latest album entitled "Love Stories & Other Musings" from iTunes right now.

It's a cool interview that should work perfectly for you if you have 10+ minutes. (Hence the name of the podcast, duh.) Because really, all any Kings fans has in surplus is time before the Western Conference Finals on Sunday. Seriously, it's been ages since the team has played.

The Winter Classic IS coming to L.A.!

AEG released a new video touting their vision of Farmer's Field on Tuesday. The L.A. Times does a pretty good job reporting how the stadium looks.

The rendering shows an open-roofed venue that almost looks as if it’s wearing transparent shoulder pads, with outdoor concourses. The idea calls for a light, accordion-style roof that is somewhat translucent, as well as lighter and less expensive than a typical retractable covering.

It's also got some pretty cool computer animation of everything inside and out of the new sports and entertainment complex. But the thing that caught my attention was what I had pointed out last February: AEG is making a play for the Winter Classic.
