Prediction Panel: Feb. 11 Kings vs. Blues

Kings' Prediction PanelThe Kings gained an instant rival when they defeated the St. Louis Blues in last year's playoffs. Understandably, every preview of the game mentions it. So why not me?

The Kings arguably played their best game of the season on Sunday, when they peppered Jimmy Howard with 47 shots and dominated for most of the game.

And when Alec Martinez scored with less than a minute left, I was excited. Because Sunday was our first Watch Party of the season, and it was a breakfast game, I ordered up a mimosa. No sooner than the waiter arrive with my sparkling alcoholic breakfast drink, the Red Wings scored. That drink tasted especially bitter.

Today, the Kings take on the Blues and Jonathan Bernier will be spelling Quick for the second of back-to-back games. I'm really not worried about Bernier's performance, I'm more worried about the lack of urgency on the Kings' offense.

Currently, the Kings are ranked 25th in the league in scoring and 27th on the man advantage. Not a good sign for a team that should be rolling four lines deep.

Adding to the stress level, the Blues get goaltender Jaroslav Halak back from injury. St. Louis has the league's best power play unit despite losing the last four games. I envision the Blues exacting some revenge on the Kings and beating them.

Final score: Blues 3, Kings 2. How about the rest of the Predictors? Your guess is as good as mine.

Reed Kaufman from Crowned Royal

Score: Kings 4, Blues 3

Reason: After playing their best game of the year in a loss at the Joe, the Kings stay hungry and bring the pain in St. Louis. Clifford gets a Gordie Howe hat trick and then dines on the brains of young Vladimir Tarasenko.

Record: 5-3

Andros from LA Kings Fight Night

Ryan from Make Way For The Kings

Score: Kings 3, Blues 2

Reason: Even though it's the tail end of a back-to-back and as great as the Blues have been so far, the Kings will rebound with a strong game on both sides of the puck.

Record: 4-4

Perfect prediction: 1 (2/5)

Jesse Cohen from All The Kings Men

Score: Kings 4, Blues 2

Reason: The Kings win and the Kings win big.  The Blues are a paper tiger and the Kings will start shaking off the Cup hangover and win in convincing fashion.

Record: 4-4

Hipcheck from Lets Go Kings

Score: Blues 5, Kings 1

Reason: Blues come in angry after the playoff debacle and the Kings use the 2 games in 2 nights excuse to serve up a healthy serving of a lethargic and uninspired effort.

Record: 4-4

Paul from Kings News Daily

Record: 3-5

Neisy from Jewels From The Crown
