Prediction Panel: Feb. 10 Kings vs. Red Wings

Kings' Prediction PanelO.K., this is getting a little ridiculous.

The Kings have stumbled through the first month of action, maddening Kings fans and stifling any hope of trying to gain additional traction in Southern California sports world.

Never mind the season opened up and almost immediately the team goes an extended period of time away from home.

Many say being on the road is good for the team, but I don't know. They're playing pretty bad away from Staples as they were when they were home.

This team has the look of a deep squad on paper, both offensive and defensively. But one-third of their blueline is dinged up and their offense has stalled. And their Conn Smythe-winning goalie has kept them in every game, barring a few games. Heaven forbid he go down.

Darryl Sutter came out and said "We need our top guys to be a hell of a lot better players. That's clear." Seconded.

Something better be done and fast. They are currently in a four-way tie for last place in the Western Conference. Today's game is a nationally televised game. A win would be a nice boost in the arm for the champs.

But I just don't see the Kings sorting themselves out just yet. I'm calling Red Wings 4, Kings 1.

What about everyone else? Well, they all seem pretty hopeful for the Kings...

Reed Kaufman from Crowned Royal

Score: Kings 4, Red Wings 2

Reason: The new Kings line combinations actually work, and are aided by the now porous Wings defense since Detroit lost an all time great blue liner in Carlo Colaiacovo to a shoulder injury earlier this season.

Record: 5-2

Andros from LA Kings Fight Night

Score: Kings 3, Red Wings 1

Reason: Why?  Bernier will be in net!

Record: 4-3

Hipcheck from Lets Go Kings

Score: Kings 4, Red Wings 1

Reason: Kings are angry after being shutout and Coach Sutter gets them to drive the net all night long. A few fat rebounds and a relentless forecheck sees our
beloved Kings rise to the occasion in Detroit. Of course that could just be the blood alcohol level talking. Other prediction-Ellerby gets his first game as an LA King and fights Jordin Tootoo to set the tone.

Record: 4-3

Jesse from All The Kings Men

Score: Red Wings 8, Kings 0

Reason: The Kings are terrible.

Record: 3-4

Paul Ambruster from Kings News Daily

Score: Kings 3, Red Wings 2 (shootout)

Reason: It's not pretty but the Kings get what they desperately need. 2 points.

Record: 3-4

The Royal Half from The Royal Half

Record: 3-4

Surly Jacob from Surly And Scribe

Score: Kings 4, Red Wings 3 (OT)

Reason: Kings will be pissed after that embarrassing loss to Nashville. Detroit won't know what hit them.

Record: 3-4

Ryan from Make Way For The Kings

Score: Red Wings 3, Kings 1

Reason: The Kings will get a goal but still continue to struggle in Motown.

Record: 3-4

Robert from Jewels From The Crown

Record: 3-4

Jon Gillette from Kings News Daily

Score: Kings 3, Red Wings 1

Reason: Who the hell knows which team will show up for either side?

Record: 2-5

Neisy from Jewels From The Crown

Score: Red Wings 3, Kings 1

Reason: The Kings could struggle to adjust after their roster shakeup.

Record: 1-6
