THI507: Yahoo's Sean Leahy, The Mayor

The past week was encouraging for the Kings, as they went 2-1, er... 2-0-0-1. Wait, what?

The latest edition of the Hockeywood Insider has us fired up. Not only do we talk about the Kings' two wins over Nashville and Minnesota, as well as their moral victory over the Canucks, but we discuss how the team will fare after the losses of Scott Parse, Dustin Penner and Alec Martinez to injuries. Introducing, the Hunt for Red November, comrade! Yup, we are excited to see the returns of Andrei Loktionov and Slava Voynov.

PhotobucketWe also talk to Yahoo's Sean Leahy, who talks about Ottawa's Project Mayhem, and how they plan to rock the vote to get as many former Sens players in this season's All Star Game, and also discuss whether the fantasy draft gimmick will stick for the game. We also touch on the Tampa Bay/Philadelphia stall/trap game, where the Flyers refused to skate into the offensive zone and the Lightning refused to engage the Flyers outside the offensive zone, as well as whether the check on Ryan Miller should be allowed or not. It's a good conversation, and Sean's got some great takes.

PhotobucketWe also talk to The Mayor, who drops some minor league science on us, talking about the returns of  Loktionov and Voynov to the big club. He also talks about the new defensive pairings heading into the Ducks game on Wednesday, where Voynov will skate with Willie Mitchell and Drew Doughty will be with Jack Johnson, leaving Rob Scuderi and Matt Greene to form a true shutdown line. Finally he talks about what the expect from the Manchester Monarchs now that their two best players are on the parent club and may be gone for a while. The Mayor's always got the goods.

Jesse and I also crown a new King of the Week, talk about Jesse's impending fear and how the International Ice Hockey Federation gets it with the announcement of their new mascot, Hockey Bird. Hey, there's also an appearance from Nikolai Volkoff and The Iron Sheik!

Don't forget, you can subscribe on iTunes, so you can get the podcast before anyone else does. And don't forget to like the show on Facebook. The Hockeywood Insider is on the air.
