They said it"I wouldn't say fatigue. It is pretty common that we do play a back to back either way. Maybe the travel was a little different than in the U.S. But, it is what it is. You have to play through it. We came out a little slow tonight and it probably cost us the game." Anze Kopitar, on whether playing the second game of the overseas road trip had any effect on the outcome of the game.
“We’ve got to take away the positives. I think, in the New York Rangers game, we played a lot better game than we did here tonight. We’ve got to learn the good things we did in that game and take some of the negatives from this game and learn from them. We’re going to do that once we get back to North America, and we’ll be a lot better in the next game." Drew Doughty, on splitting the games in Europe.
"It was a tough game. They were pressing. They had their D always jumping in the play, with 3-on-2s all the time. If we didn’t have our forwards in good position, they were coming hard. They had a few bounces on their side, and the next thing you know, it was 3-0.’’ Jonathan Bernier, on handling the Sabres’ pressure.
“We went 1-1. I think a lot of guys are looking forward to getting back and getting into the rhythm of the regular season. These are regular-season games, and it feels like it on the ice but with the travel and the setup, these were two home games that felt like we were on the road. We’re ready to get back and get it going.’’ Dustin Brown, on the split in Europe.
“Once you get down, that’s what happens. That’s what happens with, I don’t want to say a young group of guys, because I want to get by saying that, but that’s what happens when you get down by three goals. You think you can do it by yourself and you start getting spread out and you start looking for those long home-run plays. Very seldom do they work. That’s something we have to take out of this game, is that you need to come back down, you need to work together as four or five, coming up the ice and making plays.’’ Terry Murray, on the Kings’ lack of consistent attack.
