THI424: Jesse and Matt are back in black (and blue)
We take a week off and all hell breaks loose. After a successful watch party in Long Beach, we took a week off, hoping the Kings' forward progress would carry us to the next week. How wrong we were.
We have a lot to cover, and we do our best, despite getting sidetracked with discussions with NHL 94, timpani drums and superhero movies. In the first segment, after some I-told-you-so's, we discuss the loss of Anze Kopitar and Justin Williams on the Kings' chances of postseason success. Jesse thinks the Kings will get "murderized," I think they will use that adversity to their advantage.
Then in the second segment (14:35), we crown a King of the last two weeks. Then discuss the fallout of the loss of Kopitar and Williams on the lines, and what coach Terry Murray has had to do try and get more offensive punch to the club. We also mention disappointment on Dustin Penner's production and how Dean Lombardi might have overpaid for him. It's still too early to throw in the towel, but it needed to be said.
Finally, in the third segment (28:30) we discuss Mark Hardy and the reports that have now come out about his recovery from alcohol addiction and putting his life back together after his troubles from last season. Then we awkwardly switch gears and brag about our respective sisters, finish up with some superhero movie talk. Hey, when you can't get a guest, you gotta fill with something. Finally, we open our mailbag (50:00) and are entertained by their insight. One thing's for sure, we have some smart fans.
