The 2010 December to Dismember was a success!

The final tally for the December to Dismember: nine wins, five losses for 19 points, tying a club record first set in 1980 and later achieved in 2005.
Anze Kopitar finished with 20 points (7 goals, 13 assists), Dustin Brown had 19 points (7 G, 12 A) and Jonathan Quick posted a 7-3-1 record with three shutouts (against the Red Wings, Avalanche and Sharks.)
The December to Dismember was a fun thing to do this year, especially when the Kings are winning. I was sort of hoping to run out of space in the picture, which would mean more wins. My favorite trophy was obviously the plate of Al the Octopus, which signifies the rare shutout in Detroit. Second has to be Wild Wing impaled on the Kings' stick.
The Kings can look back at 2010 with pride. Making the playoffs for the first time since 2002, the emergence of Kopitar, Quick and Drew Doughty, and the continued evolution of the franchise gives 2011 a particular luster.
They kick off the year playing divisional rivals San Jose, whom I'm sure are still stinging from their last meeting. The Kings have struggled mightily to finish the year, but have been working hard in practice to try and avoid the downward spiral that affected them in November, when they lost seven out of eight.
But that's what so cool about New Year's... you can make new resolutions for the upcoming 12 months. Hopefully the Kings can right their ship once more and continue charging toward the playoffs for a second straight season.
Personally, I want to thank anyone who stumbles across my corner of the Kingdom. I really appreciate all the well-wishers and friends I have made doing this. Stay tuned, because I'm going to have a contest/celebration for all members of Hockeywood that should be fun to do.
Be well and Lets Go Kings!
Here's a favorite song I like to play on New Year's called Open Eyes by The Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo. Since no one can remember the words to the other one, I like this one. Plus it has a great message...
May the memories not be forgot
May we never lose our mind
may no one tamper with our thoughts
for the sake of open eyes
...For open eyes my dear
for open eyes
we will not drink to blindness dear
We'll drink to open eyes!
The mindless cretin on parade
they may fill our lives with fear
Should we forgive and look away
Well perhaps, but not this year!
For open eyes my dear
For open eyes
We will not drink to blindness deat
We'll drink to open eyes
Our enemies may come on strong
They may try to break our will
Should we forgive and look away
Just before we spring to kill!
For open eyes my dear
for open eyes
we will not drink to blindness dear
