Doughty pumpkin asks "Why so Serious?"
Seeing that Drew Doughty now has some free time on his hands while he recuperates from a concuss... er, upper body injury, he is bored out of his mind. He's already finished his laundry, he's already taken the Kings to the Cup in NHL 11 (with the offsides on. Donuts plays the right way...), and he's already built a cold fusion reactor to keep his iced tea the perfect temperature.
So he was totally game when I asked him to sit for me as I carved his likeness into a pumpkin for Halloween (which is this Sunday, people. Stock up on candy. I like the Wonka Assortment package.)
O.K., so maybe he didn't do that. But he is now a pumpkin stencil, thanks to the citizens of Hockeywood, who voted the phenom blueliner as the King player they would most like to see etched into the side of a gourd.
And again, I feel I have to preface this by saying that I know it looks like Drew is rocking some goth makeup. You have to allow for some leeway when you turn someone into a jack o'lantern (In this case a Drew O'Lantern.) You have to tether elements together so they will hold together when you carve.
But it was my daughter who pointed out earlier today that he looked like Heath Ledger from The Dark Knight. And she was right, his mouth looked like the Joker's scarred grin. After tweaking it more, it looks a little better, but I still see The Joker.
