Kings after deadline: Drew Doughty piles up the minutes, Sedins silenced
This was the seventh straight game in which the Kings went beyond regulation time. The youth that was supposed to be a disadvantage for them might be an asset if they keep this up.
“There is no talk about endurance of series right now,” Coach Terry Murray said. “You don't allow yourself to think that way. If you are tired, go home and go to bed. This is the Stanley Cup playoffs.”
• ESPNLosAngeles' Tom Murray:
Sudden
Life
For Kings
What a difference two overtime games make: A terrific 41-save
performance in Game 1 by Quick in that 3-2 loss, but the demons are
exorcised with his great play. And tonight? He does what he did for the
Kings for the better part of the season -- making key saves ay ket times
and giving them a chance to win.
• LAKingsNews.com:
Kings take control of the series
We played a poor game 1 and took them to overtime. We played a better game 2 and beat them in overtime. There is much to be improved upon. Our best games are ahead of us. The Kings are coming of age before our eyes.

Kings Even Series In OT Thriller
While I don’t necessarily agree with coach Terry Murray’s decision to sit Justin Williams, it’s amazing how much better the Kings look WITHOUT Randy Jones or Raitis Ivanans in the lineup, isn’t it?
• HockeyBuzz's Matthew Barry:
Down 2-0, Kings Even Series in OT 3-2
What had been a choking defensive game 1 turned into a track meet at times as both teams were flipping and chasing and dumping and chasing. The Kings held Vancouver to 22 shots on goal through 3 periods and instead of only 2 shots on goal in the 3rd, the Kings were aggressive with 11 shots while holding the Canucks to just five. I’ve bitten my nails all the way to my knuckles.
• Rink Royalty:
Kings Win! Kings Win!
Drew Doughty is a freaking monster. The kid had 32 minutes and 56 seconds of ice time. What the hell is that? Based on preliminary research, that’s literally almost 3 full MINUTES longer than anyone else is playing. Chris Pronger hit 30 minutes, but wussed out at 30 minutes and 1 second. Seriously. I realize the playoffs don’t count, but Drew Doughty should win the Norris Trophy this year. There. I said it.
• Jewels from the Crown:
Tied Up!; Kings 3, Canucks 2 (OT)
Good thing for the Kings though was how Andrew Alberts was still in the game. Word was he was going to be sat for a more capable D-man, but he was paired with Shane O'Brien and I was definitely relieved. Alberts ended with three penalties and O'Brien had one. If Alain Vigneault keep this pairing again (I don't know why in the world he would) Terry Murray better exploit the hell out of it.
• Inside Hockey:
Kings Comeback To Top Canucks in OT; Even Series
The other story for the Kings was their ability to stymie Vancouver’s most potent offensive weapons, the Sedin twins, who were absent from the score sheet. “As a whole, we did well against the Sedins,” explained Simmonds. “We shut them down tonight, but there are more games in the series.”
