Doughty helps Kings stay in game, still trail

So, after a fight-marred first period, the teams switch sides and we're underway. The CBS Line gets some sustained pressure early in the period, with players throwing the puck at the net and crashing down. The FOK line does the same thing, as O'Sullivan has a nice pass through defenders, but missed Kopitar's stick.
Edmonton gets a penalty when Theo Peckham gets whistled for interference, then Steve Staios gets two for holding. Last game, the Kings didn't fare too well with the 2-man advantage. And the start of this one isn't much better. Kopitar, Brown, Jarret Stoll, Michal Handzus and Doughty are out for L.A. They put a lot of sustained pressure on the Oilers. So much that the Oilers take a timeout to slow things down.
A lot of good that does, as patience pays off for Doughty, who blasts one past a screened Roloson to put the Kings on the board. It's his fourth goal of the season, putting the Kings right back in this game. The Kings are really shutting the OIlers down now, as they haven't registered a shot in the second period yet.
This being Valentine's Day, the kiss cam is roaming around the crowd. You know the routine, until the last couple, where the guy drops to his knee and proposes to his beloved. The action starts, so we don't get to see her response until the play ends.
Ladislav Smid gets the gate for clearing the puck over the ice, as the Kings go back on the power play. But the penalty is killed after several chances by the Kings. The game seems to be happening all in the Oilers' zone this period, but to their credit, they are shutting down the top two lines.
With a minute left in the second, Brown deposits Staios over the boards and into the Kings bench, again to the delight of the Kings fans. The Kings dominated the period completely, halving the lead to one goal. If they can sustain the same energy and effort in the third, this game will be tied before you know it.
Second period: Oilers 2, Kings 1
