Cena smacks down Staples, Vaughn wants someone's head to bleed and more

There's nothing like a winning streak to bring out the stars...

Due to reports that the team were looking to carry a backup-backup goaltender the rest of the stretch run, the Kings announced the singing of WWE Superstar John Cena to a 10-day trial contract. Incensed, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon proceeded to attempt to sign Raitis Ivanans to come form a tag team with Kane to help revitalize the tag team division. The details of what happened next are sketchy, but all I can report is McMahon was found unconscious after being hit over the head with a steel chair, Ivanans retired from pro wrestling to remain undefeated and John Cena left with Heidi Androl's digits. (Her phone number, not her fingers.)

Actually, Cena was in town to wrestle at a WWE House Show at Staples on Friday, and was promoting his new movie, 12 Rounds. Thursday night was also when the Kings recognized Los Angeles Police Department medal of valor winners. And since Cena's movie involved him being a police officer, it was a natural fit.

He also recorded a little vignette for KingsVision with Kings players Matt Greene and Raitis Ivanans. Cena was asked to slip into Erik Ersberg's equipment, which doesn't seem like too much of a problem. According to wikipedia, Cena is 6-foot-1, while Ersberg is an even 6-foot. The thing is, Cena is a professional wrestler and is well-built, weighing in at 240 pounds. Ersberg weighs 183. It took two people to help the WWE champ squeeze into the Swedish goalie's equipment. That video should be up over at lakings.com later next week.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Bas Rutten was interviewed by Heidi during the game as well. DID YOU KNOW: His first wife gave him the nickname "El Guapo", which means "The Handsome One" in Spanish. It was inspired by the movie ¡Three Amigos!. My wife gave me a nickname too: El Stupido. I don't know what that stands for. I think it means "The man of my dreams."

Vince Vaughn was spotted sitting with his girlfriend Kyla Weber, who is obviously a Flames fan. I'm pretty sure Vince was waiting to see which Calgary player was going to make Gretzky's head bleed. But when it became apparent that No. 99 no longer plays for the Kings or the league, he propped himself against the wall and nursed a beer all night, depressed in the fact that it has been 13 years since Swingers came out.

Canadien singer Michael Buble was spotted along the glass. Buble recently became part of the ownership group for the Vancouver Giants, a minor league team in the WHL. No word if Buble cheered or jeered Michael Cammalleri with the rest of Staples.

Finally, in honor of Black History Month, former NHL player dropped the puck at center ice with Wayne Simmonds and Jarome Iginla. McKegney was the first black player to score 40 goals in the NHL. No word if Dean Lombardi has inquired about acquiring the 51-year old winger to help the Kings, who are tied at 26th in the league in goals scored.
