BlogNation: Kings get shut out for the third time this season
Game 11: Ducks 1, Kings 0 (overtime)•AP: Pronger OT goal gives Ducks 1-0 win
Looking to end a four-game winless streak, the Kings opted to give back-up
goalie Ersberg his first start of the season and the 26-year-old Swede responded
with a 26-save effort that allowed Los Angeles to gain just its second standing
points in its last five games (0-3-2).
• LA Times: Pronger's goal in overtime gives Ducks 1-0 victory over Kings
Murray has been changing his line combinations too often but didn't change his starting goalie quickly enough, waiting too long to let Ersberg get a start.
Now is not the time to change again. Murray should send Ersberg out there again Thursday against Florida to let him build some confidence and allow his team to build some continuity.

• LA Times: Coach wants more from Kings' top line
"You're looking for your premier players to take control whenever the
game is on the line," Murray said. "Whether that's protecting a
one-goal lead or when you're down by a goal and are looking for
something to happen in the offensive end, those players are required to
play the game the right way, at a high level consistently."

Ersberg also stopped a shot courtesy of his facemask. "It stings a little bit, but fortunately for me, it got stuck here and there wasn't a rebound," Ersberg said.
• Press-Enterprise: Goaltending controversy for Kings?
Murray was asked if he were concerned about sparking a goaltending controversy. "Only if you guys start it," he quipped. Consider it done.
• Canadian Press: Pronger scores OT winner, Giguere shuts out Kings
''I liked his game a lot,'' said Kings coach Terry Murray of Ersberg.
''Having not played in several weeks here, he showed a lot of
composure; he was very calm, under control and made some very big
stops.''

• The Royal Half: Yes We Can... Almost!
I don't care if the Kings make the playoffs this year. If they play the remainder of the season anywhere near the level they played this game, I'll be a happy Half Season Ticket Holder. To put the 1-0 loss in perspective... The Ducks were 6-0-1 in their last 7 games and the Anaheim Ducks trio of Ryan Getzlaf, Corey Perry and Teemu Selanne had combined for 10 goals and 18 assists LAST WEEK. To put together the game the young Kings did tonight took a great overall defensive effort.
• Kingsternet: Lmbardi Hpes Yungsters Cme ThrughWith the loss of Michael Cammalleri, Lubomir Visnovsky, Ladislav Nagy
and Rob Blake the Kings lost 45 goals from their lineup. Scott
Thornton, Brad Stuart and Brian Willsie account for another 14 goals.
That's roughly a quarter of their offense from last season and that
doesn't even take into consideration the assists and overall play those
players provided. While some of those players have retired or found
themselves out of the league, others are flourishing in their new
environments.
• Battle of California: Would You Rather?
First question: Has anyone ever heard of a coach given an option of
how they'd prefer to serve their team's penalties before? Is that even
textbook legal, or just something that sort of got slipped in the heat
of game action?
But now that it's happened, here's question two: if you were a coach in that situation which option would you choose?

• A Queen Among Kings: Heading In The Right Direction: Ducks 1, Kings 0 (OT)
Things I didn’t like:On the other side of the ice: the Anaheim view
- Matt Moulson being reassigned to the Manchester Monarchs. What the eff!
- Peter Harrold skating as a forward.
- Brian Boyle on a line with Peter Harrold.
- Patrick O’Sullivan having to skate with these two yahoos.
• OC Register's Jeff Miller: Fun and game shows with Ducks and Kings
The Ducks and Kings renewed their rivalry Tuesday night at Staples
Center. Hours later, this morning, the Kings were scheduled to appear
on television again, this time on "The Price is Right."
Not as contestants but as participants, featured in a hockey-theme showcase.
From burly Kings to beauty queens, wielding sticks to modeling chicks?

• DucksBlog: From Tuesday's game
Meanwhile, the Kings are right where we thought they'd be, as that win
over the Ducks (which never happened) is one of only three they have
this season (3-6-1). They have taken their spot at the bottom of the
Western Conference, as Kings fans resume their normal routine of
reading the sports page upside down so they can see their team on top
of the standings.

• Press Box Perspective: LA on Hockey Night in Canada
In the beginning of tonight’s broadcast, Kelly Hrudey mentioned that
he thinks Dustin Brown might be the most underrated captain in the game
today, since “he’s gritty, he hits hard, and he has a great scoring
touch.” I have to agree with Hrudey. Dustin Brown is definitely an
extremely underrated player. I think that’s true of many players who
fight hard to stay in front of the net, but Brown has the distinction
of typically having the most hits and not having many penalty minutes.
Most of the guys who battle to be in front of the net seem to rack up a
lot more penalty minutes.
• LA Times: Kings center Anze Kopitar still growing into role
From wunderkind to wonders-what-to-do in two seasons? Well, not really.
But Saturday was another reminder that a kid will be a kid.
Kopitar, 21, has grown a lot since (his) rookie season. The Kings, though, need him to be three years older.

Robitaille has lived in Los Angeles for 22 years
and followed politics with great passion. He just couldn't officially
be part of the process.
