"We've got to be a lot better out there," said King goalie Jason LaBarbera, whose teammates credited him with keeping them in the game for the first 20 minutes. "Obviously it wasn't the start we were looking for."

While Kopitar now represents the hope for the future for the franchise that has missed the playoffs for five straight seasons, it’s incumbent the Kings start to show some improvement before they become a complete afterthought in Los Angeles. Just how much buzz do you figure there will be Sunday night as the Kings are about to open their home campaign against the big, bad Sharks when the Dodgers are playing the Phillies a slap shot away for a berth in the World Series?

Pfffffffft. That’s about what we figure, too.
